Driving Posture—Let’s Not Fall Apart in the Car

Look, driving kind of wrecks us. Especially when you're hustling from one thing to the next, slouched behind the wheel with your head craned forward like a turtle.

But here's the thing: you can start to undo some of that without overhauling your whole life.

⏰ The 5-Minute Reset (That Actually Works)

Next time you're in the car (parked or waiting at practice pickup is ideal), set a 5-minute timer and try this:

  • Drop your hands lower on the wheel — somewhere around 4 and 8 o’clock. That’ll naturally open your chest and give your shoulders a break from creeping up toward your ears.
  • Slide your shoulder blades back — not tin man style, just enough to feel the middle of your back turn on.
  • Float your head up — think of a string pulling from the crown of your head. Tuck your chin slightly and let your neck lengthen.
  • Breathe in — into your ribs, your sides, your back. Let your breath remind your body what “center” feels like.

What if you forget and slouch again?

Then you just notice, and come back. That’s the whole game.

This isn’t about being perfect. It’s about building body awareness—one step at a time.

Bottom line: Your body wants to move back toward neutral. It just needs a few reminders and a little kindness along the way.

💧P.S. Hydrate today. It helps your fascia, your brain, and your patience.

Heads up: I’ll be out of town the week of 7/21, but back in action the following week. I’ll be dropping the rest of my summer hours later this week—stay tuned for updates as the schedule evolves (as always, it’s a dance between kiddo adventures and family rhythms).

Be well,

Anna
